CARE OF CASTS AND BANDAGES

It is important to keep the dressing dry or the skin underneath may become sore.
Try to avoid taking your pet out in the rain, where this is unavoidable, cover the dressing with a plastic bag or similar waterproof covering. 
Do not leave a waterproof covering on at all times, as this will cause sweating beneath the dressing.

Discourage your pet from licking or chewing the dressing. 
Light covering such as a sock will often be enough to prevent this.
If your pet persists in chewing, then contact the surgery for advice.
If the dressing becomes wet or damaged, or it slips away from the wound site, then arrange an appointment as soon as possible.
